Wow. It’s been two and a half months.

I can’t believe it’s been two and a half months!

Life has been kind of all over the place for a bit. Posting has taken a back seat to the more important things…! However – I’m back now, and raring to go. And in that vein, may I turn your attention to a new section in the main gallery, on Talgarth Asylum. Click on the main gallery link on the side bar, and go to the second page of albums to find it. A trip to an Asylum isn’t exactly what i had in mind on Sunday, but it happened nonetheless…

Talgarth Asylum is a (now closed) mental hospital in Mid Wales, just North of Crickhowell. It closed (I believe) in about 1999, and has been left to decay since. Some parts are very little changed from when it was closed, whilst others are more or less falling down. The whole place is increadibly atmospheric, and just cries out to be shot from all angles. So I did. Well… a good selection of angles anyway.

They’re redeveloping the site soon – its going to be apartments and a hotel, so some friends and I decided to capture it before the inevitable march of progress finally erases the character forever. You can find the results in the the aformentioned gallery…

This is my first attempt at so-called ‘Urban Exploration’, which is defined “The examination of the normally unseen or off-limits parts of human civilization, or decay in built envrionments.”. It’s really given me the bug, and it’s definitely something I’ll be doing again in the future. Watch this space!

Until then, Enjoy…
