Babies eh? Who’d have ‘em! Well… us by all accounts, at least in a few months. Today has been a kind of baby-centric day when it comes to posting, so i thought I’d round it off by showing off the little one herself. Before she’s born? Yep!

A few weeks ago, the Wife and I took a drive to a clinic in Cirencester to have a 4D Ultrasound done. Well… strictly speaking, it was her who had it done rather than both of us, but technicalities aside, it proved to be a very interesting day. For those not up on these things, it’s a way of producing pseudo-3d images of a developing baby in the womb. It has been used as a diagnostic aid, but is also available privately as a method of ‘bonding’ with the baby. This is the reason we did it, and although we both went in with a little trepidation, we both came out with the opinion that it was a worthwhile experience.

For our troubles, we got some pictures, and a 7 minute video which captured what was done. It makes for fascinating viewing for anyone expecting a baby. We’ve found varying different views from people regarding the video and pictures, from ‘freaky’ to ‘amazing’. We’re firmly in the second camp.

So without further ado, here they are (click for bigness)…

4D Scans

And in wonderous cinemascope…

To me, the fact that this is even possible is incredible. Especially as the technology underpinning it, ultrasound imaging, has been around since about the Second World War. To us, it’s been a way of getting an early glimpse of ‘forthcoming events’ so to speak. Some people say it spoils the surprise. I disagree. Unless she comes out orange and strangely bumpy and lumpy, then it’s still going to be just as much of a surprise when we finally see her. I still have trouble equating these images with the little wibbly, kicking, alien-like thing currently residing inside my good wife. However, one thing it does hammer home to me is that THIS IS REAL! And you know what? I can’t wait

I’ve gone and done it again. I’ve managed four months with not a peep. I should be ashamed etc etc, but to be honest, life has kind of been hotting up recently, with the first addition to our comfy little party of two due in the next few months. That’s right – I’m gonna be a dad. Scary stuff. Makes you look at things differently, and has sort of pushed things to the back of the queue when it comes to the site and my hobbies and all that.

Don’t get me wrong – I can’t wait! I know it’s going to be the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do, but from what everyone in the know says, it’ll be well worth it, so here’s to our baby daughter – that’s not a guess by the way…

Have taken the time to give the site a little tweak here and there. Nothing drastic, just revamped the header (replacing my picture with something a little less sombre!), and made the whole thing a bit wider. With everybody having bigger screens these days, it was time to give everything a bit more room. Can you believe, it’s been almost two and a half years since I stared this thing?

Cor blimey!
