This, as always, was a fantastic trip. I decided to concentrate a lot more this time on the people, as the monuments have been done to death (especially by me!) and the people, to me, are as big a reason for being there as the history.

Anyone who has visited Egypt will know already what a magical place it can be. Both ancient and modern Egypt hold a particular fascination for me. Even though I’ve been all around the world, it is Egypt I return to over and over again, as I don’t think I’m ever going to break the bond that was first forged when I was just ten years old. Frends there, both old and new (hi Les!), make it somewhere I will be visiting whenever I can for the rest of my life.
